I'm so excited!!

I've been working all morning on, well, I'm afraid if I tell I'll "jinx" things. I know, I know - I'm really not that superstitious. So, since I can't tell yet I think I'll just tease with this sweet picture of Anna and Sara. This was taken last summer at Anna's 6th birthday party. Don't you just love this little bikini?!

  1. Hi, I was so excited to see your bikini in SB. I ordered the KK ones knowing I could make them, but didn't feel like figuring out. They were so big and I sent them back. I am excited to try. Will you make a pattern with bigger sizes?

  2. Hey Bridget!
    What sizes do you need?

  3. Well, right now mine are 3 and 5 (and tiny), so the current sizes would work, but I would love to have it up to a 6 or 7! I like more modest swimsuits.

  4. Jackie,

Bridget tipped me off about your cute suits and I immediately ran out to buy a copy of SB. Love, love, love the suits. I am with her that I would love to buy a pattern in the bigger sizes! I would love for it to go up to even an 8 as I have a 4 year old that is more like a 6 year old for size. I am going to attempt to redraft the pattern so it would fit but would really love if I could just buy one straight from the source! (A size 6 for now:)

  5. I have drafted it up to about a size 8, as I myself have a 6 year old and 8 year old who still look cute in the swimsuit. For some reason, SB chose just to publish the smaller sizes. The top can be adjusted by moving the pattern piece 1/4" away from the fold and adding 1/8" at the top of the pattern. On the panties, add 1/4" at the center front and back seams and 3/8" at the top of the pattern.

If you need any help, let me know. I'll be glad to do what I can!

  6. Thank you so much!!! You have made my day! I also have an 8 year old that I would love to see in this suit. She was disappointed that it wouldn't go up to her size. So how much did you move it over for the 8? Just the same as for the 6?

I am going to do the size 4 today for my 6 year old. Yes, my 6 year old is smaller than the 4 year old. A little crazy!

So glad you were published. Any other Kelly's Kids items you have made patterns of? I know I can figure out a lot of them but usually prefer to just buy more patterns:)

    Thanks so much,

    Sara

  7. You're welcomed! Yes, just 1/4" for each size you wish to add. I understand about the kids sizes - my 8 year old can still wear a 6 and my six year old wears a 7! I've not made any other patterns - most of the trunk shows use patterns that I've been able to re-create using patterns from The Children's Corner.

  8. Thanks so much, Jackie. I will put some notes in my magazine. I ordered some blend seersuckers as I have to iron my daughter's smocked bathing suit I get from Shrimp and Grits that is 100% cotton. I have to move this week, but soon as my new sewing room is set up, this is my first project!!

  9. I made one last night and it is darling! My daughter wanted to omit the elastic at the legs making them more into shorts so I did it. I want her to be happy so she will wear it. Your directions were great and it went together so quickly. Thanks again!
